A bit about myself

I have been married to Judy since 1974, and we have had many great years together.  Like every good marriage we've had our times of difficulty and stress.  Fortunately we have had access to good counselling along the way, which has helped us immensely and enriched our lives.

We met as students at UBC.  She was doing a B.S. in nursing and I was doing a B.A. in Sociology.  On graduation we moved to Pasadena where I did an M.Div. at Fuller Seminary.  For ten years I served as a pastor and in 1989, after a two year program, went into counselling full time.  I have been doing marriage and family counselling for  more than twenty years and am registered with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors.

We have a married son, and a daughter who are a big part of our lives.  I believe that investing time and resources in building a strong marriage is one of the most important things you can do for you and your kids, and I have a passion for helping couples find the kind of life together that is truly worth living.

My Hobby

In my spare time I carve birds.  I discovered that it was a great counter balance to time spent with people, and it gave me an opportunity to express my creativity.  I love making things with my hands.  As I work on a bird I delight in seeing its face and features emerge out of the wood.  I really do get passionate about it, especially at the point when I mount it on its base.  I collect driftwood for my bases so each piece has its own uniqueness.  If you are interested in seeing my carvings you can check them out at
